Lucy is a landscape artist who works completely in hand stitch.
The Lincolnshire artist is best known for their free style, stitched miniature landscapes.
They investigate the intimacy, spirit and sense of place.
Lucy endeavours to capture the feeling of isolation and the wildness of a location.
The artist has woven these feelings into their landscapes and will endeavour to continue to capture the moment from their personal photographs.
They draw with stranded cotton thread on to calico. The finished pieces are then stretched over a canvas and fastened at the back by stitching. The canvases are fixed on to black mounting card and set in to black box frames.

Work History
Lucy originally worked as a Free lance Theatre Costumier in London.
Prior to their career as a costumier, Lucy designed and made bags and purses to sell at craft fairs and markets.
Whilst they where a costumier, Lucy found that their strengths and preferences were in the surface decoration of costume; to embellish a garment became their strong point and a direction that they followed overall, stemming from a lifelong love and practice of hand stitching.
During their period of motherhood and family focus, Lucy developed their stitched art. They experimented with a few ideas over these years and this exploration evolved into the small pieces that they produce today.
Artists Collective
In 2019, Lucy was invited to join the former East Coast 7, a collective of artists practicing in the East Anglian area. The common goal was to bring their unique surroundings to life through a variety of approaches. One of their main strengths was that they worked across a range of disciplines, both two and three dimensional. East Coast 7 used the tools and techniques of painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and printmaking to respond to the nuances of their area and to look beyond the visible.
East Coast 7’s vision was to support each other in the continuing development of their own art practice and to encourage the public’s engagement with art.
